How to Install EndNote's CWYW tool in Google Doc

Step 1 of 3: Open a Document and go to the Google Marketplace

  • In order to install the cite while you write tool for Google doc, you must first visit the Google Marketplace. To do this, open a document and go to "Extensions" located at the top of the toolbar and select "Add-ons" and then "Get Add-Ons". This will take you to the Google Marketplace.

Step 2 of 3: Search for the EndNote Cite While you Write extension

  • Once you are on the Google Marketplace, use the search bar at the top to search for "EndNote Cite While You Write" and click on it.

Step 3 of 3: Install the Add-On. 

  • To install the extension, simply click on "Install" on the right side. The Cite While You Write extension will automatically be added to your add-ons.

How to Access the CWYW Tool

Step 1 of 2: Locate and open the add-on.

  • Return back to "Extensions". At the bottom you will see "EndNote Cite While You Write"; place your cursor on it and select "Open". 

NOTE: You may need to refresh the page to see the "Open" option.

Step 2 of 2: Login to EndNote Web.

  • Once you open the add-on, a pop up will appear on the right-hand side prompting you to sign in to your EndNote Web account. Once you sign in, you will be able to start adding in your citations and bibliography.

NOTE: You will be asked to sign back in to EndNote Web each time you log out of your Google account.
