Library E-Resources Access Issues: Levy Resources Bookmarklet

Active faculty, residents, students and staff of Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and the Mount Sinai Health System can still access the Levy Library's Resources while off-site by logging in using your Mount Sinai network credentials.
Pro Tip: Using the Bookmarklet to Fix Mount Sinai VPN Access Issues

If you use the Mount Sinai VPN to access Library Resources and find that you lose access to a journal even after logging in, we recommend using the bookmarklet.

Unfortunately, some publishers' sites seem to lose the Levy Library's proxy URL while on the VPN, but the bookmarklet can restore access by forcing you to re-authenticate yourself.

Bookmarklet

The Levy Resources Bookmarklet is an easy way for you to connect to our resources when you're not coming from a Mount Sinai IP address. To install, drag the pink button to your browser bookmarks or tool bar:

Levy Resources Bookmarklet

How to use:

  1. When you come across a resource that you think the library subscribes to (journal, book, database, etc) click on the bookmarklet in your browser toolbar.
  2. If we subscribe to that particular item, you'll be prompted to login at the Libary Resources Login page.
  3. After logging in, you'll return to the resource and will have full access to it.
  4. If we do not license the resource, you'll see an error page that includes a "Host Needed" message. Please note that the Levy Library makes no attempt to configure our proxy server for every resource, just those we license.

Mobile Device Configuration

If you are on a touch device, or unable to click or drag links, create a bookmark and edit the bookmark URL to contain the following line of code instead of a web address:

javascript:void(location='http://eresources.mssm.edu/login?url='+location)
