Measurement Instruments for Research, Education, and Clinical Practice: Locating Instruments

Locating Instruments Overview

The first step is finding an instrument that you can use to measure your construct of interest.

There are many approaches.  We recommend starting with the REDCap Shared Library gives you validated instruments that are already set up for deployment in the REDCap secure survey system at Mount Sinai.

If your area of interest is in the psychological, educational, health behavior or quality of life/health status realm, you may find what you are looking for in our test databases or instrument collections on the web.  For more specific questionnaires in clinical domains, searching literature databases may be required.

Once you have identified an instrument, understanding if you need to purchase or license it, or what the terms of user are is very important.

The Levy Library team is available to help if your searches have not identified instruments that meet your needs.
