Virtual Anatomy & Physiology Guide: HARVI: Interactive Cardiovascular Simulation

HARVI

Image of Harvi Interactive banner: letters H-A-R-V-I are filled in with telemetry monitor, heart image, vascular image, Harvi guide image, and EKG reading respectively.

Harvi is an interactive textbook and simulation-based environment for learning cardiovascular physiology, hemodynamics and therapeutics.

The user is able to learn through hands on involvement by manipulating several cardiovascular parameters:

  • Volume (Preload)
  • Systemic Vascular Resistance
  • Contractility
  • Heart Rate
  • Lusitropy (the rate of myocardial relaxation)
  • Catheter Position

Each manipulation allows you to see the change in outputs, the user is able to see the most important features of the cardiac cycle. Allowing you to interpret scenarios on normal cardiac cycle, pressure volume loops, impact of pharmacology on heart function and much more. Each manipulation allows you to see a 3D model of the heart, pause if needed, and view telemetry outputs.
