Anatomage Table and Room Policies and Procedures

  • Location: Annenberg 12 in room A12-23.  
  • Space: The room comfortably accommodate up to 6 users. There are no seats available in the Anatomage Room.
  • Food, Drink, and Equipment Details: Food and beverages are not permitted in the Anatomage Room. Please refrain from sitting on the table or using the table as a writing or laptop surface.

Modifications of the Table or Room Set Up

The Anatomage table default set up is the horizontal position. Only those trained on how to adjust the table to its vertical position should do so [Educational Technology team, core Anatomy faculty, and the Anatomy Teaching Assistants (TAs)]. If you need to use the system in a vertical position or other accommodations, send a request to mededtech@mssm.edu for the Manager of Technology and Learning Environment and the Education Technology Coordinator for Medical Education at least one business day prior.

The Anatomage table may be turned off when you arrive.  If you know that there is a reservation following your session, please leave the table on.  Otherwise, please turn off the table if you are comfortable following the instructions to do so.


Guidelines for Access to the Room

Door access to room A12-23 must be provisioned on a user’s Mount Sinai ID card by security.  

  • All medical student ID cards are provisioned access to room A12-23 as part of the student onboarding process. 
  • Medical Education will provision room access to other ISMMS or PSON students, faculty, instructors, TAs and other staff who use the room as part of instruction, administration, or maintenance.
  • If you do not already have room access, you should request access to the room before making a reservation.  *Please note medical students and dual degree (MD/PhD) students already have access added to their ID card.* Students, trainees, and faculty in other programs are welcome to apply for access by submitting the online request form. This will be reviewed and then requested from security by the Manager of Technology and Learning Environment to enable access within five business days of the request. 

Availability of the Anatomage Table

The Anatomage Table and Room will be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week except for a time scheduled for cleaning and maintenance once a week to be determined in collaboration with Environmental Services. The time and frequency for maintenance may be adjusted as usage warrants. Non-critical upgrades will be deferred until breaks between terms.

Anatomy and Practice of Medicine course directors may reserve and occupy the Anatomage room for the entire time of those courses.  Any times not reserved for the course will be available to others for reservations in priority order.  Standard booking windows for medical student reservations during Anatomy weeks will be one-hour blocks Monday-Thursday from 5:00 pm – 7:00 am. Weekends, Friday 5 pm to Monday 7:00 am

The Anatomage Table can be reserved through the Anatomage Room Calendar, where you can view time slots and select your preferred date and time. 

Time Limits

During Anatomy Course Weeks

  • Students and trainees can book up a one-hour session.
  • The Anatomage Room can be booked up to 96 hours (4 days) in advance.

Outside of Anatomy Course Weeks

  • Students and trainees can book up to 2 hours per session.
  • The Anatomage Room can be booked up to 96 hours (4 days) in advance.

Reservation Procedures

Use the QR code at the entrance or go to the Anatomage Room Calendar webpage to check availability and make a reservation. Fill out reservation details, including user information and purpose of use. Upon successful reservation, you will receive confirmation via email. The confirmation includes details such as the reserved date and time, user information, and any specific instructions or policies related to Anatomage Table usage.

Ethical Considerations

The material displayed on the Anatomage Table is derived from genuine human cadavers. We anticipate that all users will regard the content (including gross anatomy models) with the same reverence and consideration as they would actual human cadavers. Bearing this in mind, we kindly request that any images extracted from the Anatomge Table be strictly utilized for educational purposes and refrain from sharing them on social media platforms.
