Please be advised that due to a planned electrical shutdown and maintenance in the Annenberg Building, the Levy Library will have adjusted hours on Saturday, March 29, 2025.

Adjusted Levy Library Hours

To accommodate building-wide electrical maintenance, Levy Library will have adjusted hours and access over the weekend. Please note that we will be opening earlier than usual on Saturday:

• Saturday, March 29: Open from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm (early opening and early closure)

• Sunday, March 30: Reopening at 12:00 pm, with normal operating hours resuming

Access Restrictions During our Closure

The following areas will be fully closed during the shutdown: 

• Levy Library, 11th Floor

• Levy Library Student Commons

• Levy Library, 10th Floor Classrooms and Individual Study Room

Please be advised that Mount Sinai ID card access to the 10th and 11th floors will be disabled from Saturday at 4:30 pm through Sunday morning until noon.

Plan Ahead

We encourage all users to secure alternate locations for study, research, or work during this time.

You asked, and we listened! We’re excited to announce that Levy Library will be installing a new water bottle filling station to enhance convenience and sustainability for our community. To complete this upgrade, we will have scheduled the installation on Thursday, February 13, and Friday, February 14, 2025.

While the library will remain open, the Collaboration Zone will be temporarily unavailable so we can complete installation and there will be some noise during the installation period.

What You Need to Know

🔹 Thursday, February 13 | 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM
The Collaboration Zone will be closed from 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM. There will be an increase in noise levels in the general area which may be heard in other parts of the library. If you’re looking for a quiet research and study space, we recommend using alternative spaces.

🔹 Friday, February 14 | 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
A section of the Collaboration Zone near the maintenance work will be blocked off, including the adjacent individual study room. Other study areas will be available as usual.

Alternative Spaces

We understand that access to study and workspaces is important. Here are some options to consider:

✅ Silent Study Areas – The designated silent study zones in the library will remain open.
✅ Individual and Group Study Rooms – If you need a space, book a study room in advance.
✅ Alternative Rooms for Study – We reserved a room that you can use while our spaces area under construction:

• Thursday, February 13 – Small Computer Lab (11-40) - OPEN 7:30am - 2:00pm
• Friday, February 14 – Small Computer Lab (11-40) - OPEN 7:30am - 2:00pm

In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the Levy Library will have modified hours on Monday, January 20 - 8:00am - 5:50pm

The Levy Library 11th floor space will be open from 8:00am - 5:50pm

 Library services including Ask a Librarian, Circulation, Interlibrary Loan, and Reference Services will be closed for the day.

We will resume our normal operating hours on the following day, Tuesday, January 21st at 7:30AM.

Upcoming Maintenance at Levy Library: December 21, 2024 

We would like to inform you that the Levy Library will be performing some maintenance this Saturday, December 21. During this time: 

• Spot painting will take place in small sections of the 11th and 10th floors. Painters may kindly ask you to relocate to another space as they complete their work. 

• Maintenance will also occur in the individual study alcoves on the 11th floor, and these sections will be temporarily closed. 

Alternative study spaces will remain available throughout the 11th and 10th floors. Please refer to the library map below for details on the sections under maintenance.

Starting July 1st, 2024, Levy Library is extending access to the overnight study space on the 10th floor to Philips School of Nursing (PSON) students as a pilot program through September 30th, 2024. Oversight study space access will now be available to PSON students as well as ISMSS medical students, graduate students, and Mount Sinai graduate medical education trainees. Here are the details: 

10th Floor Overnight Study Space Hours: 

• Monday through Friday: 9:00 PM - 6:00 AM (Note: the space is open 7:30 AM – 9:00 PM for all Library users) 

• Weekends and Observed Holidays: 24-hour access 

Important Policies for Shared Spaces: 

• Shared Space: During overnight hours, there are no reservations or restrictions on access, so it's first come, first served. If a large classroom is occupied by a few students, feel welcome to enter and use the space.  

• No Food: To keep the space clean, please do not bring in food. Beverages in covered containers are welcome.  

• Professional Conduct and Noise: Please conduct yourself professionally and be mindful of noise levels to ensure a productive environment for all. Disruptive noise levels or behavior issues can be submitted to the library at library@mssm.edu   

Safety First: Your safety is our priority. If you encounter any issues, please contact Mount Sinai Security at 212-241-6068. 

Card Access Issues? If your ID card doesn't grant you access to the 10th floor, here’s what to do: 

1. Go to the Security Desk on the SC level of the Guggenheim Building. 

2. To get your card access fixed, visit the Security Office between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

We would like to inform you of an upcoming partial electrical shutdown in the Annenberg building that will affect the 10th and 11th floors of the Levy Library from Saturday, October 5, 5:00 PM through Sunday, October 6, 12:00 PM. During this time, certain areas on the southern side of both floors may experience intermittent power outages at study carrels and computer workstations, along with reduced lighting and airflow.

To ensure an uninterrupted experience, we encourage you to make use of the northern side of the library spaces, which will remain fully operational during this period. While we aim to minimize any disruptions, please be mindful of the reduced lighting in affected areas and proceed with caution if you choose to study or work in these spaces.

We wanted to inform you about some upcoming maintenance work at the Levy Library in our 10th floor classrooms that serve as open study spaces for medical, graduate, PhD, and PSON students, as well as Mount Sinai residents and fellows on the weekends.

During this time, the 10th floor classrooms will be closed. But don't worry—we have plenty of other spaces available for you to continue your studies without interruption!

Alternative Study and Research Spaces:

• Group and Individual Study Rooms on the 10th floor: Will remain open for use, but please note that there may be noise from the maintenance work going on in the classrooms
• 11th Floor Spaces: Open and ready for you to use all day!
• MSW Library and MSM Information Commons: Will be open 24/7 for use.  Just remember to bring your ID card to access these spaces.

In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, on Wednesday, November 22nd the Levy Library will be closing early at 9:50pm and will remain closed all day on Thursday, November 23rd. 

ANBG-10 will remain open and available to medical, graduate, and PhD students for studying when ANBG-11 is closed.

The Levy Library will be closing the 10th and 11th floors at 4:00pm on Saturday, November 11th, due to a scheduled partial electrical shutdown in the Annenberg Building, Floors 10-26 starting at 5:00pm.

During this outage, the normal power supply to floors 10 through 26 of the Annenberg Building will be temporarily disrupted which will impact lighting and power in all library spaces.

We will reopen both floors at 12:00pm (noon) on Sunday, November 12, 2023 and resume our normal library operational hours.

UPDATE 2.13.23: We have since expanded our hours further: Monday - Friday 7:30am - 11:50pm.

We are pleased to announce that the Levy Library hours are expanding and we will be opening earlier on weekdays starting Monday, January 31, 2023. The new hours will be as follows:

• Monday: 7:30am - 10:50pm
• Tuesday: 7:30am - 10:50pm
• Wednesday: 7:30am - 10:50pm
• Thursday: 7:30am -10:50pm
• Friday: 7:30am - 10:50pm

In addition to opening our doors earlier, the Levy Library will also be keeping our Circulation Services desk open until 5:00pm Monday through Friday.

This change is a direct result of the feedback we have received from you, our valued users, and our recent success in filling a number of staffing vacancies. We understand how important it is to have access to our spaces and services at convenient times and we are committed to meeting your needs.
