Zotero @ Levy Library: Getting Stuff In
About the Zotero Connector
Once you've installed the Zotero Connector's save button will appear directly on your browser's extension toolbar. As you browse the internet, Zotero will automatically detect bibliographic data from webpages and allow you to add references directly to your library with one click.
With the Zotero Connector you can:
- Import single or multiple references at a time from an online database.
- Import references by identifier using the "magic wand" feature.
NOTE: The Zotero connector is unavailable for Mount Sinai managed Windows workstations and laptops.
Direct Import from Online Databases
Importing a Single Reference
When you find a reference you wish to bring into your Zotero library, simply click on the connector to capture it. The reference will automatically be brought into your library.
Depending on the type of resource you are viewing in your browser window, the save button may appear differently. For example, if you are viewing an e-book the save button will look like a book, while if you are viewing a PDF it will appear as a PDF icon.
Importing Multiple References
On webpages that contain more than one item (i.e. database search results pages), the Zotero Connector will appear as a folder, allowing you to import multiple items at once to your Zotero library.
Once you click on the Zotero Connector, a box will pop up allowing you to select which references you wish to add to your library.
Adding Items from Identifiers
Using Zotero's "Magic Wand" Feature
If you know a reference's unique identifier (ISBN, DOI, PMID, or arXiv ID), you can add it to your library by using Zotero's "magic wand" feature. In Zotero, click the magic wand button at the top of your Zotero library and enter the unique identifier to add it to your library.
