Starting August 12, access to UpToDate for all Mount Sinai users will transition to Single Sign-On (SSO) authentication.
The clinical information resource UpToDate (whether you access it from Epic, the UpToDate website, the mobile app or via the Levy Library website) has transitioned to single sign-on (SSO) with Azure multi-factor authentication (MFA).
If you have an existing UpToDate account (for example, to track CME credits or save bookmarks), you do not need to register for a new account.
When you reach the registration page, select the "Merge Accounts" button and log in with your existing username and password, then select "Sign in"
This will retain your current CME/CE/CPD data in one UpToDate user record.
This is the preferred method for keeping your saved information—like CME credits and bookmarks—all in one place.
Complete the Mount Sinai Single Sign-On (SSO) login.
On the UpToDate registration page, click the "Register" button.
Complete all fields on the registration form and then click "Submit Registration".
If you have completed the SSO process for the first time and a new account was created, but your existing account did not automatically merge during the process, follow these steps to manually merge your accounts:
Log into UpToDate through SSO.
Click My Account and then click Merge Accounts.
In some cases account merging may not work as expected. Here are a few examples of errors that may occur:
If your existing account is still active, an account merge will not work until the existing account subscription has lapsed.
Auto-merge: If you have an active subscription on your existing UpToDate account and choose to log in with that account during registration (auto-merge), you may still receive re-verification reminders. These notifications can continue until your original subscription expires.
If the user's last name on the two accounts attempting to merge does not match, it will produce an error.
Example: User’s original UpToDate account has their old last name, but they got married and their last name has changed.
If you are a Mount Sinai volunteer faculty member or South Nassau employee without Mount Sinai credentials (i.e., you do not have a Mount Sinai or Icahn School of Medicine email address), you can continue to access UpToDate the way you normally would when you are at any Mount Sinai Health System campus. This may be through your Library intranet page or directly at www.uptodate.com.
