We’ve known for a while that too many researchers cite retracted papers. But in what context do those citations occur? Are some authors citing a retracted paper as an example of problematic findings, or do most citing authors treat the findings as legitimate, failing to realize they are no longer valid?

On April 28 from 3-6:00PM, join the Levy Library and partners, ISMMS WikiMed student group, and AfroCROWD (Afro Free Culture Crowdsourcing Wikimedia) for a Wikipedia Edit-a-thon. This session will focus on gaps in Wikipedia regarding race and gender inequalities in academic medicine and consumer health. Come learn from and be part of communities contributing to this highly-utilized open source of health information! This session will take place in Annenberg 12-01, 1468 Madison Avenue at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

What issues do LGBT individuals face as they age? How does the stress of homophobia and transphobia exacerbate aging and contribute to “re-closeting” and “de-transitioning?” How can spiritual care perspectives inform the work of healthcare professionals in treating aging LGBT patients? In this workshop, attendees will hear from two clinicians and a spiritual care provider with expertise in working with LGBT patients who will address current research and best practices for working with an aging LGBT population. Speakers will include: Rabbi Jo Hirschmann, Dr. Rosanne Leipzig, and Dr. Laura Kelly. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in a case study exercise.
