What issues do LGBT individuals face as they age? How does the stress of homophobia and transphobia exacerbate aging and contribute to “re-closeting” and “de-transitioning?” How can spiritual care perspectives inform the work of healthcare professionals in treating aging LGBT patients? In this workshop, attendees will hear from two clinicians and a spiritual care provider with expertise in working with LGBT patients who will address current research and best practices for working with an aging LGBT population. Speakers will include: Rabbi Jo HirschmannDr. Rosanne Leipzig, and Dr. Laura Kelly. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in a case study exercise.
