Mount Sinai Center for Bioinformatics
-
Mount Sinai Center for BioinformaticsThe Center for Bioinformatics develops analytic methods to help experimental biologists to study the increasingly diverse and complex data that are collected from human cells, tissues, and patients. The Center builds on many of the strengths of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. The Medical School has strong departments in basic science research and clinical care, and they aim to strengthen between these departments.
They focus on analyzing, visualizing, and mining data from experiments that profile the molecular state of human cells and tissues by transcriptomics, epigenomics, proteomics, and metabolomics for drug discovery. They also explore how to integrate these datasets with genomics and electronic medical health records data to advance precision medicine.
In addition to developing algorithms, web-based software tools, and databases, and collaborating with wet-bench experimental laboratories at Mount Sinai, the Center also organizes courses, workshops, tutorials, and seminars; and Data Science MOOC and in-class courses for undergraduate and graduate students aim to train the next generation of Bioinformaticians.
Bioinformatics Zhang Laboratory
-
Zhang Bioinformatics LaboratoryThe Integrative Bioinformatics Laboratory provides bioinformatics resources and support to genomic research in community of the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and affiliated researchers using cutting-edge technologies. Our mission is to promote multidisciplinary collaborations between medical research, bio-statistics and computer science. We strive to develop a next-generation bioinformatics infrastructure that integrates the analysis of diverse data from genome and proteome level analysis to clinical investigations. To facilitate effective use of existing and emerging computational technologies by researchers, we provide bioinformatics support, including training and consultation.
Systems Pharmacology-Bioinformatics and Computational Core
-
Systems Pharmacology-Bioinformatics and Computational Coreis one of the cores of Experimental Therapeutics Institute. It will provides the following services:
1.Development of cellular networks from disease gene
lists and drug target lists
2.Network Analyses using graph theory approaches
3.Development and analyses of correlative models using
machine learning approaches
Molecular Informatics Core
-
Molecular Informatics Core (MIC)is one of the six cores of Experimental Therapeutics Institute of Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. The MIC offers research expertise and support int eh following areas:
1. Target Characterization
2. Small-molecule Virtual Screening and Docking
3. Protein-Ligand Interaction Characterization and Optimization
Genomics Core Facility (GCF)
-
Genomics Core Facility (GCF)is one of the three core units of Institute for Genomics and Multiscale Biology. It enables Mount Sinai investigators to carry out cutting-edge basic and translational genomics research, which includes:
Massively parallel sequencing with the Illumina HiSeq 2000 and MiSeq
Single molecule sequencing with the Pacific Biosciences RS
Next-generation sequencing library preparation from RNA and DNA
Sanger sequencing with capillary electrophoresis
Genotyping, gene expression profiling and epigenetics using the high-throughput
Illumina BeadArray platform
Real-time PCR using the Applied Biosystems 7900HT
Mount Sinai Genetic Testing Laboratory
-
Mount Sinai Genetic Testing Laboratory (MGTL)provides high quality genetic tesing and interpretative services for routine and esoteric genetic tests with a rapid turnaround time in an academic setting. It is CLIA, NEW York State (NYS) approved and College of American pathologist (CAP) accredited. It is also an American board of Medical Genetics (ABMG) training site for all three laboratory specialties:
Biochemical Genetics Laboratory
Cytogenetics and Cytogenomics Laboratory
Molecular Genetics laboratory
