On Friday, April 28th the Levy Library partnered with AfroCROWD and the Wiki Project Medicine Student Group at ISMMS to host our first Wikipedia Edit-a-thon addressing issues of race & gender bias in medicine. Our thanks to everyone who participated, including Dr. Sharon Edwards (Associate Professor in Pediatrics, Pediatrics Associates, and Medical Education) who delivered opening remarks, Cheryl R. Emery who screened a trailer of her documentary Black Women in Medicine, Lane Rasberry (Wikipedian in Residence at Consumer Reports) for a Wikipedia training, and Sherry Antoine of AfroCROWD for leading the event. Thanks also to our librarians Rebecca Snyder and Robin O’Hanlon for organizing the Edit-a-thon.
