Simple Search

Research Discovery's simple search box is set to search the Levy Library Catalog. However, you may narrow or expand your search using the scope options that appear below the search bar as you type. Your search can be a natural language search, or it can include specific resource information such as an author name, title, etc. You can also use Boolean connectors (AND, OR, NOT, etc.) in your searches.

Advanced Search

You can access the Advanced Search page by clicking "Advanced Search" to the right of the main search bar on the Research Discovery landing page.

Using the Advanced Search option, you may use Boolean Operators (AND, OR, NOT) to combine search terms from a variety of fields. For example, you may choose to search for items with "Global Health" in the title, and the term "Data" in any field. You may also choose to search for specific material types, date ranges, and languages.

Account Personalization

Mount Sinai students, faculty and staff do not need a Research Discovery Account to access and view full-text resources, but can still sign up for an account to gain access to these customized features:

  • Create and save your favorites lists
  • View search history
  • Create alerts for your search queries
  • Export citations to your favorite reference management system like Endnote, Zotero, or Mendeley

Your Research Discovery account also makes life a bit easier by letting you:

  • View current loans
  • Initiate renewal requests
  • View current requests
  • View Fines and Fees
