The "Behind the Desk" interview series is back for 2018!

To kick things off we want to introduce you to Chelsea Gizzi, Levy Library's newest Library Assistant. Though Chelsea is still very new to Mount Sinai Health System, she has already been a tremendous help to our library operations. Let's learn some more about Chelsea!

Chelsea Gizzi

How long have you been working at Levy Library and what were you doing before?

This is only my fourth week at Levy Library. Before this I worked in the Acquisitions Department in the NYU Library system.

Describe the duties and responsibilities of your job.

I pretty much provide support to a lot of different aspects of life at Levy Library. You might see me at the front desk, or working behind the scenes on invoices and event support.

What is the most challenging aspect of your job?

Definitely remembering the right answer to a lot of the questions I get at Circulation. It’s just so much information… I used to work in a children’s public library, and I’m so used to that environment that the first time I answered the phone I almost said “Children’s Room, how may I help you?”

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

I’m in library school right now, so it’s great to be able to immediately put the textbook into practice and see how things actually work.

What are your interests outside of work?

I love languages, not just learning them but also seeing how they relate to each other across language families.  German is my favorite. I also love cooking shows and crime fiction.
